I am pretty sure that there is no one who reads and appreciates this book who doesn’t end up in love with Captain Jack Eliot. In fact, Sarah herself saysĪnyone who hasn’t got some backbone has no business trying to live in the Territories. Living in the Arizona Territory in the second half of the 19th Century would have been a challenge that not everyone could survive.
